Downloading Gravity 6

Download

Gravity 6 runs under Windows 9x, NT4, 2000 and XP. If you are running Windows 95 then please read the note at the bottom of this page, referring to OpenGL, before you install Gravity 6.

There are two ways to install Gravity 6. They differ only in the size of the download required and the method of installation.

  1.     If you know that you have Microsoft Installer version 2 (MSI 2.0) on your computer (you will have if you run Windows XP) then click Download and save "setup.exe" to disk on your computer, optionally virus check the file and then run it. This download is around 4.7 Mbytes.

If you don't know that you have Microsoft Installer version 2 (MSI 2.0) on your computer then you can either read the note below about checking for the presence of Microsoft Installer or simply try the procedure above. If Setup complains that Microsoft Installer isn't present (or that you have an earlier version) then download and install Microsoft Installer directly from Microsoft. This is a good investment for the future and you can do so by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/psdkredist.htm. Download and install the Microsoft Installer package appropriate for your operating system (rebooting if requested) and run Setup once more.

  2.     If you are viewing this page using Internet Explorer and it is set up to run unsigned ActiveX controls after asking your permission then you can, if you wish, install Gravity 6 directly from the web. This will result in the minimum download size for your configuration (as little as 2.5 Mbytes). If you are happy to do this then click Install directly from the Web. Click the Install button on the next web page to confirm the download. This takes you to a web page which appears to load and then do nothing. However, the progress bar at the bottom of the browser shows that the page is downloading the setup program. Please wait until you get the prompt asking if you want to run the setup program before navigating to a new page.

How to check you have Microsoft Installer on your computer

If you are comfortable with using Windows Explorer to view files on your computer then start it up and have a look for a file called "msi.dll" in your Windows\System32 or Windows\System folder. If you don't have it then Microsoft Installer is not present. If you do then right-click on it and select Properties. If you click the Version tab then you should see a file version starting with 2 (or higher). If it starts with a 1 then you will need to upgrade your version of the Installer package by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/psdkredist.htm. Download and install the Microsoft Installer package appropriate for your operating system (rebooting if requested).

Note regarding OpenGL and Windows 95

Gravity 6 needs OpenGL which does not ship with Windows 95. If you are running Windows 95 then, if it has not already been installed by your graphics card driver and/or a computer game, then it can be obtained as an add-on from Microsoft at ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/MSLFILES/OPENGL95.EXE . Note that unless OpenGL has already been installed on your computer then the Gravity 6 setup will not complete. If you find the file "opengl32.dll" in your "Windows\System32" folder then it is a good bet that OpenGL is present.

If you have any further questions about
Gravity 6 by all means send an e-mail.
